چکیده

The electrochemical behavior of cytochrome c (cyt-c ) adsorbed to gold electrodes through mercaptoalkanoic acid/ mercaptoalcohol monolayers was investigated in the 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium salts of bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide and hexafluorophosphate. Cyt-c does not retain its Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox activity in dry ionic liquids (ILs); however, the redox signal of the modified electrodes can be reconstituted upon subsequent treatment with aqueous buffer. Water saturated ILs, 1.4 wt.%, failed to support the redox activity of the adsorbed cyt-c ; therefore, the ILs’ deleterious effects on the redox behavior of the cyt-c modified electrodes cannot be attributed solely to the stripping of essential water from the enzyme’s polypeptide lattice. # 2003 Elsevier B.V. Bioelectrocatalysis in ionic liquids. Examining specific cation and anion effects on electrode-immobilized cytochrome c.

Cytochrome c immobilized on alkylthiol self-assembled monolayers exhibits a characteristic Fe(II)/Fe(III) redox signal that is lost when exposed to ionic liquids composed of a butylimidazolium cation combined with either hexafluorophosphate or bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion. In this study it was shown that exposure to the aqueous solubilized ionic liquid components, butyl-, hexyl-, and...

Synthesis, Structure and Catalytic Performance of N4-Macrocycles of Fe III and Co II for Oxidation of Hydroquinone

Macrocycles and p-benzoquinones (p-BQ) have been generally connected as potential co-synergist redox models in aerobic oxidation. To get insight for the synergist oxidation of hydroquinones (H2Q), thus, we synthesized and characterized dibenzotetraaza [14]annulene type macrocycles of FeIII and CoII metal ions and described by utilizing different examinations inc...

H2S(g) removal using a modified, low-ph liquid redox sulfur recovery (LRSR) process with electrochemical regeneration of the Fe catalyst couple.

A modified pH 1.0 liquid redox sulfur recovery (LRSR) process, based on reactive absorption of H(2)S((g)) in an acidic (pH 1.0) iron solution ([Fe(III)] = 9-8 g L(-1), [Fe(II)] = 1-2 g L(-1)) and electrochemical regeneration of the Fe(III)/Fe(II) catalyst couple, is introduced. Fe(II) was oxidized in a flow-through electrolytic cell by Cl(2(aq)) formed on a Ti/RuO(2) anode. pH 1.0 was applied t...

Purification and characterization of cytochrome c' from Neisseria meningitidis.

Cytochrome c', a c-type cytochrome with unique spectroscopic and magnetic properties, has been characterized in a variety of denitrifying and photosynthetic bacteria. Cytochrome c' has a role in defence and/or removal of NO but the mechanism of action is not clear. To examine the function of cytochrome c' from Neisseria meningitidis, the protein was purified after heterologous overexpression in...

Genetic and biochemical investigations of the role of MamP in redox control of iron biomineralization in Magnetospirillum magneticum.

Magnetotactic bacteria have evolved complex subcellular machinery to construct linear chains of magnetite nanocrystals that allow the host cell to sense direction. Each mixed-valent iron nanoparticle is mineralized from soluble iron within a membrane-encapsulated vesicle termed the magnetosome, which serves as a specialized compartment that regulates the iron, redox, and pH environment of the g...
